A big bash

On 19 February 1901, Walter and Henry Richardson were tried at the Bendigo Supreme Court for robbery in company. Miner William Somerville stated that he had shouted drinks for them and some others at the Rose of Denmark Hotel at Eaglehawk. As he was walking home the prisoners came upon him from behind and hit him on the head, taking about two pounds from his pockets. Both men had a number of previous convictions. They were found guilty and sentenced to 15 months and 2 years hard labour respectively.
